14th Annual Cape Cod Beach Clean-up

14th Annual Cape Cod Beach Clean-up—Fun Places
Herring Cove Beach, Provincetown, MA

The Friday night journey to the Cape was rather more pleasant than most years. The economy and weather may have had a part to play. The sign-in RV and flags were in place early Saturday to meet the Cape Cod volunteers. Hope and Roger soon followed with their meals on wheels. Park rangers appeared with bags, gloves and instructions. A "Welcome To All Clubs" was given by Bill Falconer and then they were off in many directions to accomplish the mission.

Some three hours later, the first of the volunteers appeared, probably because of the aromas of Hope and Roger's cooking. The official count was 51 dedicated Cape Cod volunteers cleaning six miles of beach and a similar number of bike trails. Photos were taken of the returnees with their bags of trash. Ultimately, two dump truck loads were headed to the landfill in Provincetown. Again, Jack of the Sunchasers hauled in the most unusual trash items.

Cold soda and water flowed in the warm breeze while hot dogs, burgers and sausages filled the tummies of the happy workers. Sadly, as the event came to a close, clouds appeared on the horizon. However, many indicated they would still take advantage of the day at the closest unofficial skinny-dip beach.

Thanks are given to the members of the Sunchasers Travel Club, Solair Recreation League, Naturist New Hampshire, Abbott's Glen Clothing-Optional Inn and Campground, Sandy Terraces Associates, Bare Bottom Beach Club, Pilgrim Naturists of New England, Berkshire Vista Nudist Resort, Garden of Eden Club and the Provincetown locals for giving their time on a sunny Saturday morning.

We all appreciate and thank our sponsors: AANR, AANR-East, Sunchasers Travel Club, Sandy Terraces Associates, Bare Bottom Beach Club and Naturist of New Hampshire.
