Barry Murphy—May 2009
Profiles—Barry Murphy—May 2009
Like most of us, Barry was a born nudist. In his case, this passion for clothes-free living continued throughout his childhood as he and friends skinny dipped and went with his friends to Circle H Club. During high school, he took his pals to nearby Goodland Country Club & Spa. As an adult, while on a business trips, he visited, enjoyed many clubs, and joined Rock Haven Lodge in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
When he married, Barry had to convince his wife, Joanne, that nudism was natural and fun. He began the lesson by taking her to Sandy Hook in New Jersey. He must have been very successful, because now they spend their vacations at exciting nudist locations in the U.S., the Caribbean, and Europe.
Barry and Joanne are both health enthusiasts. Barry regularly calls to report on his AANR and AANR-East work from golf courses, gymnasiums, and ski resorts. Perhaps this is the reason for his boundless energy; his upbeat personality and gregarious nature is simply Barry!
Barry became involved in AANR in a professional way when he answered an ad for marketing consultants in 2006 and joined the Marketing Consultant Team. Since that time he has provided professional guidance and mentoring to a number of clubs, including Rock Lodge Nudist Club, Sky Farm, and Club Orient. He is also a member of the team developing and implementing the AANR marketing plan. In 2007 he was elected to a Director on the AANR East Board.
In addition, Barry is the Marketing Team leader for several AANR-East marketing initiatives and the leader for the Regional Strategic Plan. No task seems too challenging for this delightful man who is so passionately dedicated to promoting nude recreation.
Relaxation for Barry gives him the opportunity to exercise his elegant tastes in cigars, port and fine wine. Yet he keeps his trim and fit physique with regular exercise—in the nude, whenever possible.
By working with AANR-East in the marketing area, Barry hopes to not only increase nudism’s visibility to those who need educated on the subject, but also convey the message that nudism is a wholesome, family-oriented lifestyle that everyone can enjoy if they just open their minds to the experience.
When you’re traveling to AANR clubs and meet a physically-fit 60-ish man with a constant smile and overwhelming energy, it will probably be Barry. You’ll know him by the shamrock tattoo!
